Continuing the Quest for History Untold!
This five-banner historical exhibit, a community memory captured by Lance Wheeler, serves as a pop-up museum that travels throughout Cabarrus and Rowan County, NC, and beyond sharing stories, from a historical perspective, of a place where students entered to learn and departed to serve.
Historical Marker - Site of Georrge Washington Carver High School (1937-1967): First public high school in Kannapolis for Black youth. Accreditation granted 1940, outstanding achievements by graduates, built by William Lee Reid, Principal, a dedicated faculty, staff and very supportive community.
